Bolsover Church of England Junior School

School Uniform

Children should come to school wearing correct school uniform:

  • black trousers or skirt (no jeans or skinny trousers)
  • a white, collared shirt (polo t-shirts are not permitted unless for PE and sports)
  • a navy blue tie (school will give your child/ren their first tie free of charge)
  • a navy blue sweatshirt, jumper or cardigan
  • plain black or grey tailored trousers.
  • plain black or grey skirt or tailored shorts (summer option)
  • navy blue gingham dresses (summer option)
  • navy blue school fleece that can be worn outside only
  • plain black shoes
  • hair bands and accessories should be plain and simple (blue, black or grey in colour)
  • no hair dye or nail varnish
  • jewellery – your child may wear one stud earring in each ear and a wristwatch only. No other form of jewellery or body piercing is allowed

We recommend your child brings a coat to school in most weathers as our climate is very changeable.

We request that no makeup or nail varnish is worn to school. In the summer we request that children bring a sunhat to wear when outside and in the winter a functional (eg: woolly) hat can be worn if necessary.

Please ensure all items of clothing are clearly labelled with your child's name.

Children should come to school wearing their school PE kit on their PE days. We will let you know which days your child has PE when they arrive in September. There will be no PE lessons on the first day of term. PE kits consist of:

  • a white round neck t-shirt
  • navy blue or black shorts
  • plain navy blue or black jogging bottoms
  • In winter months, a plain navy blue hoodie (this must not have logos on)
  • trainers suitable for indoor & outdoor PE
  • all jewellery must be removed prior to PE lessons. If earrings cannot be removed by the child, an adult at home should do this

Logos are not permitted within school.

To support parents/carers with school uniform, we provide pupils new to our school with a navy blue school tie. Additionally, those pupils who are entitled to Pupil Premium (through free school meals allocation) will also be provided with a navy sweatshirt/cardigan and book bag.

At school, we supply quality uniform items with our school logo on through Pinders. These can be ordered from the school office or via the Pinders website (https://pindersschoolwear.com/schools/25/BolsoverCofE).

Reusing School Uniforms: Caring for Our Families and Our Planet

This year,  launched our Bolsover Exchange, an initiative aimed at promoting the re-use of both new and pre-loved school uniforms. Recognising that Bolsover is the most deprived district in the county, we understand that our children’s continuous growth can place additional financial strain on families throughout the school year.

Re-using uniforms not only supports our community but also benefits the environment. Did you know that 1.4 million wearable school uniforms are discarded each year? Parents, guardians, and carers spend around £52 million annually on new items, often throwing away uniforms that still have plenty of life left in them. We believe that well- cared-for uniforms can and should be reused, and we welcome all donations with open arms.

If your child comes to school in incorrect uniform (items not aligned with our uniform expectations listed above), they will be provided with clothing from the Bolsover Exchange. This can be returned laundered the next day or kept if needed.

To keep Bolsover Exchange thriving, please consider recycling any outgrown school uniform items, coats, and shoes with us. We accept all donations, including uniforms, coats, gloves, scarves, PE wear, tights, shoes, trainers, and more!

Additionally, dental care packs are available for pupils who are eligible for pupil premium.
