Early Help Support
Supporting children and families at Bolsover Church of England Junior School.
"With Faith, Hope and Love, We Grow Together"
Welcome
At Bolsover Church of England Junior School, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, feel safe and achieve their full potential. Sometimes children and families face challenges that can affect wellbeing, learning, attendance, behaviour, relationships or emotional health.
Our Early Help Provision ensures that support is available as soon as difficulties emerge, helping to prevent problems from escalating and giving every child the opportunity to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
What is Early Help?
Early Help is the support offered to children, young people and families when challenges first begin to emerge. By identifying needs early, children receive the right support at the right time, helping to maintain positive development and prevent difficulties from becoming more serious.
Early Help can involve practical advice, emotional support and coordinated work between families, schools and other agencies. The aim is to build resilience, strengthen family relationships and help families find lasting solutions.
Challenges we can help with include:
- Parental conflict or separation
- Financial concerns
- Disability support
- Attendance difficulties and EBSA
- Emotional or behavioural needs
- Developmental concerns
- Housing support
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Social stimulation and engagement
- Positive family relationships
- School engagement
- Anti-social behaviour concerns
How is a referral made?
Families are referred to Early Help through school. Where appropriate, the school works alongside other services to create the best package of support.
These services may include Early Help Teams, Health Services, CAMHS, Social Care, Compass Changing Lives and local community organisations.
Support available
Support is tailored to the needs of the child and their families which may include:
- Parenting advice and guidance.
- Practical and emotional support during challenging times.
- Support with health, housing and financial concerns.
- Attendance and punctuality support.
- Referrals to specialist services and agencies.
- Support for vulnerable pupils and families.

What is an Early Help Assessment (EHA)?
An Early Help Assessment (EHA) is a shared planning tool that helps schools, families and services work together to identify strengths, understand needs and coordinate support.
It may consider:
- Child's wishes, feelings and experiences
- Current risks or concerns
- Family strengths and protective factors
- Previous support and its impact
- School, community and online influences
- Future goals and support planning
